The Cholesterol Chronicles: Test Results
What do my numbers say after 42 days of making dietary changes?
Last week I sent blood samples to the lab. I wanted to check my progress toward lowering the cholesterol numbers I received on my annual physical on December 11, 2025.
I am very happy to report that there has been significant positive movement in my numbers.
As you can see, my overall cholesterol dropped 16 points, my calculated LDL dropped 3.4 points, and my triglycerides dropped 65 points! Yes, all of those numbers are still elevated, but I am elated that I have been able to see this much movement in the first 42 days - with only changes to my diet. I wanted to see how much of an effect changing only my food intake would have. Now that I have seen those results for myself, I am in the process of incorporating more moderate physical exercise into my regular routine.
I will take my next blood sample on February 22, 2026, and should have those results in 5-7 days. If all goes according to plan, those markers will all continue to drop so that when I visit my provider again in March, my cholesterol will hopefully be fully in normal range again without the need for medication.
I want to state for the record that I am not opposed to taking medication for my cholesterol if it proves necessary. I simply want to do everything in my own power to manage my health without adding medication.
